Student Bus Information

PUPIL TRANSPORTATION (Half-Day)
Special School District will provide transportation for all full-day and half-day students. The following transportation arrangements are to be used:

1. A.M. half-day students will be picked up on the same home routes as full day students.
2. At the end of the A.M. session, students will be transported to their sending school.
3. A bus will then pick up the P.M. session half-day students at their sending schools and deliver them to the tech school.
4. P.M. half-day students will be returned on the same home routes as full day students at the end of the P.M. class session.
5. When the sending school is closed and the Technical Education High Schools are open; items 1, 2, 3, & 4 will remain in effect and students are expected to attend the Tech School.
PLEASE NOTE: This includes spring break and teacher workdays.

PUPIL TRANSPORTATION (Half-Day-Cont.)

Bus Number- Students as well as parents should know their bus number.

Bus Route/Late Bus Questions/Concerns- The appropriate bus garage should be notified if you have a questions or concerns about a bus route or if a bus is late.

Bus Stop Arrival/Departure Times- Students should be at their bus stop at least 10 minutes prior to their scheduled bus pick up time. If a bus does not show up, students should wait at least 10 minutes before leaving the stop. If this happens, the appropriate bus garage should be notified.

Bus Changes
Change of Address- Bus changes due to moving may take up to two weeks. In the event of an address change, a change of address form should be completed by a parent or guardian. This form can be picked up from the registrar in the Guidance office.

One Day Changes- Parents/Guardians must give verbal permission to Mrs. Williams @ 989-7612 or Mrs. Bell-Hill @ 989-7608, at least one day in advance, before a student can ride an unassigned bus. Upon approval, the student will be given a demographic sheet that must be given to the bus driver before being allowed to board the bus. It is the student’s responsibility to get this sheet from Mrs. Williams or Mrs. Bell-Moore, who are both located in the main office.

Home School Closings- Transportation will be the same as usual. A.M. students will be taken to their home schools only, not home. P. M. students will be picked up at their home schools. When home schools are not in session, half-day students are still expected to attend North Tech.

Student Drop-Off- Enter the West driveway. Prior to 7:00, students can be dropped off in front of the school. After 7:00, students must be dropped off on the east side of the building by the cafeteria Sports/Activities at Home Schools-County students who participate in activities at their home school will be provided transportation after school. See Mrs. Bell-Hill or Mrs. Williams for further information.

Sports/Activities at North Tech- Students who participate in sports/activities will be given an activity bus pass to ride the activity bus. Students will not be allowed to ride the bus without it.

Sporting Events- Students who stay for sporting events will not be allowed to ride the activity bus.

After-School Tutoring- After school transportation will be provided. Students will be issued a bus pass. However, students must sign up for tutoring in advance to get a pass.

Problems/Concerns with a Bus Driver or Other Students on Bus- If a student has a problem with a bus driver or other students on the bus, Mrs. Bell-Hill should be notified at 989-7608 or Mrs. Williams at 989-7612. They are both located in the main office. Students or parents/guardians should never attempt to confront a bus driver or another student.

Bus Conduct- Students are expected to conduct themselves in the same manner as in school and in classes. Failure to do so can result in disciplinary action and/or loss of riding privileges.

Failure to Ride School Bus- If a student does not ride the school bus for a two week period; he or she will be dropped from transportation. Resuming transportation could take up to two weeks.

County Students Who Move to the City During the School Year– If a county student moves to the city he or she can no longer attend North Tech.
