Track Team is KPLR 11 Hardees Team of the Week

Track 2010 on KPLR 11.png
The North Technical High boys and girls track team, coached by Richard Sanders and Drew Huston, has been in existence for a very short period of time. But in the handful of years the program has developed into a consistent squad of state class runners that have made their mark in the Missouri High School Track & Field scene.  Last year’s team saw the likes of Shakira Thomas, a 3-time All-State athlete and St. Louis Post-Dispatch high school scholar athlete.  The boy’s 2009 team produced outstanding talent like Marquis White who excelled in last year’s MSHSAA Track and Field event, winning both the 100-meter dash (10.68) and the 200-meter dash (21.62) in Class 3.
Now the new 2010 team is attracting some attention of its own. The track team was recently named the Hardees Team of the Week and was highlighted on KPLR 11 Sports Sunday Extra.  Such recognition bestowed upon North Technical high would be impressive enough if the school were equipped with modern track and field facilities, but KPLR 11 Sports Sunday Extra noted how this is not the case for the Golden Eagles squad.  A lack of track and field facilities has made the Eagle runners train on everything from concrete to grass, but even under such less than desirable training circumstances, the North Technical runners have made the best of it and turned it into success on the field.  The hard work and dedication of these Golden Eagle athletes have been the reason that this once upstart fledgling track program has developed into a significant contender today. Congratulations to the 2010 North Technical track and field team, the KPLR 11 Hardees Sports Team of the Week. Watch the KPLR 11 broadcast by clicking the video link on the right.
