What's new in the Library Media Center: Playaway Audiobooks
| What is a Playaway? Playaway is the name of a small light weight solid-state audio player that is preloaded with an entire single audio book. The Playaway was designed to provide simple and convenient access to digital audio books. To listen to your favorite book, one simply needs to plug a set of earphones into the 3 mm stereo jack and press play. The player features navigation through chapters, volume control, and alteration in the speed of the narrator’s voice. Like a traditional book, the device is capable of automatically bookmarking where the reader last left off when it is powered down. This easy innovative player is especially popular among techies, busy business people, and the visually impaired. However, the Playaway is now finding its way into public libraries and schools. The North Technical Library currently owns 8 titles and plans on adding more in the future. The LMC loan period for Playaway titles is 2 weeks.
